NAME CHANGE AND FREE ADMISSION USHER IN 22ndANNUAL METRO ARTS EXPO For the first time in its 22 year history, admission to this year’s annual Metro Arts Expo (previously known as Metro Arts Two Rivers Expo), is FREE.
Scheduled for November 7- 8 at Hy-Vee Hall - Iowa Events Center, the Metro Arts Expo will still offer everything one comes to expect from this event: a jury-selected array of art created by 130 professional artists from 15 states, live music, and a hands-on art workshop area for children and demonstrations. “I Am an Artist” student competition winners will also be displayed around the venue. In its third year, this contest showcases student and teen art work from metro-area schools.
“We are very excited about this year’s event,” said Jomarie Tucci, Chair. “Not only are we offering all the great things that people come to expect each year from this event, we are eliminating the admission fee this year. We’ve found that people in this economy are looking ways to own and give art, and we’re just offering yet another incentive to help them find unique gifts for loved ones this holiday season.”
From listening to great musicians, to participating in art appreciation seminars, to creating art with your children, there is something for every family member to enjoy. Artists will be selling art across 13 categories including 2D and 3D mixed media, ceramics, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and wood.
Hours for the event are Saturday, November 7 – 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Sunday, November 8 – 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. For more information, please call 515.280.3222 or visit the website at www.metroarts.org.
