In spite of a childhood largely spent on Cheap Trick's tour bus, Miles Nielsen seems a remarkably sorted human being. Not for him a life lazily living off the sins of the father: Miles is an album which, even without that bloodline, deserves the attention of anyone who likes rough-hewn powerpop with a country edge, sounding in places like a long-lost Tom Petty track (Lost In My Mind) and in others like his very own brand of folk, bluegrass and bubblegum (Gravity Girl). Nielsen calls it �cosmic Americana�, a place where pedal steel glides across bouncing basslines and Ringo-esque drums, and in the absence of any better catch-all, for now he can have that little pigeonhole all to himself.
