Located on 2nd Avenue in the former Sambetti’s, Maggie’s Rumble Room opened under new ownership in the spring of 2022 to much fanfare.
With a retro vibe, the Rumble Room is one of Des Moines’ hippest watering holes. The walls are adorned with motorcycle and music memorabilia, and there is no shortage of neon signage. There’s even a vintage jukebox filled with classic songs, all spun on 45 RPM vinyl.
Brother Trucker delivers the kind of hard‑hitting, blue‑collar Americana that could only come from Iowa’s Trailer Records lineage—gritty stories, big grooves, and a live show that hits like a freight train. The band has spent 25+ years turning Midwestern characters into anthems and carrying forward the raw, soulful spirit of “The Iowa Sound.” Their latest release, Live at Octopus, captures them at full voltage: tight, loud, and unmistakably alive.
